Willowfly Anglers is now offering guided Ice Fishing trips on Blue Mesa and Taylor Reservoirs! Ice fishing is a great winter adventure for anglers of any skill level. Whether you are an experienced ice fisher or a complete novice, our professional guides can cater to your needs and show you an amazing experience on the ice!

What’s Included?

Our professional ice fishing guides will provide all the necessary fishing equipment for a safe and productive ice fishing trip. This includes ice augers, ice huts, heaters, fish finders, rods, reels, and all terminal tackle. On full-day trips, guides will provide a hearty lunch. You will need to come prepared with warm, layered clothing, similar to what you’d wear skiing. You’ll also need to purchase your fishing license prior to your ice fishing adventure. You can purchase a Colorado fishing license in our Fly Shop during business hours, or online at Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Half Day Trips

Half Day trips are 3 hours of fishing and are perfect for beginners, families, or anyone who wants to experience the fun of ice fishing. Meet time is typically 8am but can vary depending on conditions. Your guide will contact you prior to your trip to confirm meet time and location. On these trips we typically target rainbow trout, brown trout, mackinaw, and the occasional perch and kokanee salmon. Once on the ice, your guide will explain the plan for the trip, and teach you the techniques of ice fishing. Minimum age for half day ice fishing trips is 8 years old.

Full Day Trips

Full Day trips are 6 hours of fishing and are generally focused on targeting trophy-sized Mackinaw (Lake Trout). Meet time is typically 7am but can vary depending on conditions. Your guide will contact you prior to your trip to confirm meet time and location. Once on the ice, your guide will explain the plan for the trip, and teach you the intricacies of fishing for trophy Mackinaw. Nothing compares to the challenge of catching one of these large, educated trout! Minimum age for full day ice fishing trips is 12 years old.

Three Rivers Resort offers a wide variety of lodging styles depending on your group size, amenity preferences, and budget. Our location in Almont, CO is central to both Taylor Reservoir (20 miles northeast of Almont) and Blue Mesa Reservoir (35 miles southwest of Almont) which are the primary fishing locations for our guided Ice Fishing Trips. Crested Butte is a short drive north from Almont, which offers skiing, shopping, and excellent dining. Gunnison to the south also offers dining, shopping, and 2 major grocery stores.
