Here we are in grips of winter yet we’re thinking about weddings. It’s wedding planning season for next summer/fall. Three Rivers Resort is the perfect Colorado venue for that casual outdoor, rustic wedding. Compared to most of the venues in Crested Butte, we offer an affordable alternative if you are looking for a “DIY” event.

The most popular option is the weekend package which includes both the Dance Hall (indoor, enclosed) and the Pavilion (outdoor, covered) from noon on Friday to noon on Sunday. This lengthy duration gives time for setup and decorating plus clean-up the day after instead of the night of! However, guests may rent the facilities by the evening or full day as well for a smaller event or to use just for a rehearsal dinner.

Facilities

The venue offers space for up to 150 people and may be used for just the reception or the ceremony too. On the resort property, it is possible to also add on the “wedding lawn” with the Taylor River as the backdrop for a ceremony. For something very unique, we can even arrange for a raft transport to deliver the bride, groom and wedding party to the ceremony lawn. The Dance Hall is a historic 100+ year-old building where miners used to gather and dance. This structure offers a nice wood floor, restrooms, a serving kitchen, long tables and folding chairs. The pavilion is a covered open air picnic area with a nice concrete floor, 4-sided picnic tables, a large bar structure, huge propane grill (propane is extra) and a fire pit. The pavilion is adjacent to the playground and volleyball court/ horseshoe pits to keep guests and kids entertained.

Lodging

Most of the wedding guests also stay at Three Rivers Resort. This works best since we have very limited parking for “outside” guests. With over 17 styles of lodging to choose from, including several larger vacation homes, there is usually something for everyone. We don’t offer “blocks” so it’s best if each party makes their own reservation with a 50% deposit down. Lodging is available to reserve one year in advance of the arrival date for the following year. Recreation

We specialize in recreation too and if you’re making a whole event weekend, we offer rafting and fishing trips for the whole family or wedding party. Choose from a mellow float trip on the Lower Taylor or an adventurous whitewater trip on the Upper Taylor. Food

If you’re shopping for catering, be sure to check out our restaurant on site. The Three Rivers Smokehouse offers a catering menu for events at the resort. Choose from our famous pulled pork, brisket, smoked chicken, ribs, side dishes and non-alcoholic drinks. Alcohol may be brought in from outside but our liquor license does not cover the Dance Hall or Pavilion facilities. We do all of the work and set up buffet-style. This is also a great option for just a casual rehearsal dinner before the big day!
